Juniper Prairie F-Troop (2009)

2009 Juniper Prairie F-Troop Group Photo

I just got home from this year’s installment of the Juniper Prairie F-Troop!  Wow, what an experience.  We had some unique challenges this year, but in the end, it was an incredible trip with some incredible people. In all, we successfully maintained 7.5 miles of wilderness trail through the Juniper Prairie Wilderness. The remaining mile will be finished by a local follow-up crew in January. » Continue reading “Juniper Prairie F-Troop (2009)”

Halloween on South Beach

Halloween on South Beach was crazy. I was a pirate, and I think I made a pretty good one at that. It was a great experience, and anyone living in Miami should do it at least once, but I don’t think I ever want to do it again!

2009 Disney Race for the Taste 10K

race-for-the-tasteYesterday I went to Disney World for final “Race for the Taste” ever. It’s a 10K race that is associated with the Food and Wine festival at Epcot. I did fairly well, but it wasn’t my best time. Afterwards, the Food and Wine festival was awesome, with great food and lots of drinks.

2009 Disney Expedition Everest 5K

Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a great race, and I ran in it last night. It’s a combined 5K, obstacle course, and scavenger hunt, themed around Everest, and hosted at Animal Kingdom. Unfortunately, this year the weather didn’t cooperate, and during the scavenger hunt and for the next hour and a half, we were all drenched with a continuous Florida-style downpour. Over 4000 people running around Animal Kingdom soaked was quite a sight to see.

A State of Trance Archives

Finally, after much waiting, Armin van Buuren has finally posted ALL of the past State of Trance episodes online for listening. I was getting desperate missing the music. I’m excited that now I’ll finally get to listen to new episodes as well as all the old episodes I’ve missed. Unfortunately, it’s a bit expensive. But it’s worth it.

2009 Disneyland Half Marathon

47940-1827-006fFor my third half marathon this year (and ever), I went out to California to participate in the Disneyland Half Marathon. It runs through Disneyland and the streets of Anaheim, and finishes up through Disney’s California Adventure. I got a fairly good time (for me), but my goal is not my time in the race, but instead just having fun. And, of course, getting the medals. I got my Disneyland Half Marathon medal, and also received the Disney Coast to Coast Challenge medal, the most awesomest medal ever, for participating in a half marathon at both Disney World and Disneyland.

Ice Age Trail Mobile Skills Crew Project

The Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin and the Florida Trail are considered sister trails, because they are similar in length, both are wholly contained in one state, and are around the same percentage completed. Butch Siegel and I have a lot of experience together working on the Flordia Trail, and since he’s from Wisconsin, I decided to go up and help them out with one of their projects. (And of course, see my family on the way though Indiana).
